Retired from Kodak after some 34 years in 2006 and have since returned to work. I have been modeling since 1988 and really enjoy both building and flying. I am currently the club treasurer.

I started getting interested in airplanes in the spring of 2005 I took a ride and found the flying field, thats were I met Joe Palmer. That same day I met Joe he had me flying the clubs trainer. I cant say enough about Joe he has been a super friend and teacher I would not be doing what I do today if it wasnt for Joe.

Story: One day Joe said you can fly with out the trainer cord so I did and landed in side the hanger with the full scale planes we put the cord back on.

I love flying. I've learned from my many plane purchases that I currently enjoy pylon style planes. I am setup for Night Flying, electric and fuel. I own JustGoFly.com R/C Motors and Components. I am the Batavia R/C web meister. I love Jets, fast airplanes, warbirds and bipes. I have a collection of Bipes - 64" Sterling Stearman, 50" Kyosho Stearman, 60" Hogbipe, 60" Pitts, 64" Waco, 60" Jung Meister, 58" TwinShark and a couple small bipes. I own electric Heli's but do not profess any heli skills. I know alot about electrics, but am still learning from all you guys about fuel.

Story: Bought my first R/C plane 20 years ago. .25 trainer. Spent three months carving balsa and built every detail to perfection. Anxious to fly, I listened to a buddy who convinced me to fly at the local school instead of waiting for a club training night. Took off in the parking lot - turned above the trees and school and was in total awe as the plane flew perfectly. It went over the next bank of trees and no longer visible. I pulled back and increased throttle - turns out it was looping and never got above the trees. BAM right into the ground. That sick feeling is one I'm sure we all know. Caused me to exit the hobby for 15 years. I'm back with a vengeance. Check out some of my Videos on YouTube.

Favorite Models:The young ladies, Elyse and Jillian, are a good friends daughters. They model for my web site. Both are in college in Florida. Somewhere in the photo you'll find a picture of me.

I am 76 years young. I have been building and flying model airplanes since I was 10 years old. Models were a lot more reasonably priced back then. Two of my six sons, Ted and Dan are club members. One of my 14 grand children, Joey. is a club member also. I have been working with my only daughter's son on the flight simulator and he has flown with a buddy box. I enjoy building models from "scratch" and kits as well as flying.

Projects:

Winter 2007-08 My current project is the 1/12 scale Sikorsky S-39 amphibian from Classic Aero. The model has a wing span of 50". It is supposed to have a ready to fly weight of 2 to 2 1/2 lbs. Wing loading is 16 to 18 oz. The prototype models were powered by astro flight 20 or 05 motors There are many vacuum formed parts, mainly hull and pontoon exteriors. The structures are balsa and plywood. The manufacturer told me, when I purchased the kit at the 2006 NEAT FAIR, that it was a builders model. He was absolutely correct. I have had a few problems during construction. I have gotten an answer to my emails regarding any problem within 1 to 2 hours. I haven't decided on a power source yet, but Ted and I are looking into that. I haven't decided on a color scheme yet. Classis Aero provides a great deal of documentation on full size aircraft.

I got started with airplanes in the late 80's lost interest and raced off road trucks for a while, Then I ran across al of my airplane stuff in my parents garage sale and started back up in 2000. I was involved with another club and then found out that the Batavia club was closer and I got some more flight time in. You will usally see me early in the mornings with my wife and kids in tow.
